First of all thank you for downloading my Male airport Scenery.

Male is the capital city of the Republic of Maldives. Which is a country located in the Indian Ocean to the West of Sri Lanka and to the South of India. This country is made up of hundreds of small islands. This is a famous tourist destination in Asia.
Airport of Male is also an island (which is artificially expanded to make it suitable for the airport.) which is at Northeast of the capital city Male (island).

THIS FILE IS FOR USERS WHO DON'T HAVE INTERNET EXPLORER OR MICROSOFT WORD, IF YOU DO HAVE ONE OF THE APPLICATIONS PLEASE OPEN THE ASSOCIATED README FILES AS MENTIONED BELOW.

Files can be found at the Readme folder. (KAECVRMM\Male Intl\Readme\)

Application Readme File to Open
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Word 2000, XP, 2003 MSWordx Readme.DOC
Internet Explorer 5 or above IExplor Readme.HTML

The advantage of using the above mentioned files is that they are having images to make explanation clearer.

Installation Instructions - Notepad
-----------------------------------------
1. Extract the package "KAECVRMM.zip" to a folder of your choice. (You need to keep folder structure.)
2. Go to the folder and see whether it is the same as below.
3. If it is not, then you have to re extract the original file "KAECVRMM.zip". Remember to enable 'Keep foler information'.
If it is Ok then copy the entire folder named "Male Intl" to your Flight Simulator Addon Scenery folder which is at YOUR_FS2004_FOLDER. Normally this is at
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight\Addon Scenery"
if you used the default installation options when installing Flight Simulator.
4. Now start your Flight Simulator then click on the 'Settings' button.
5. Press the 'Scenery Library…' button.
6. Then press 'Add Area' button.
7. Now browse to your 'Addon Scenery' folder and find "Male Intl" and single click the folder “Male Intl” to select it and press the 'Ok' button.
8. Check and see whether that Male Intl is added to the scenery list and enabled.
9. Restart Flight Simulator to add the scenery. When starting the simulator for the first time after adding the scenery it will display a progress bar saying 'Building database for new scenery files'. If you did come across this, your installation of "Male Intl" is ok.

Usage Instructions
------------------------
This airport is built on a partly artificial island. So it doesn't has the ability to successfully handle the Boeing 747-400 Jumbo jets. Why need to try it and risk your life when there is whole lot of other aircraft types.
Male airport has a medium length runway. So before departing, check your fuel quantity and ensure that you'll be saving fuel for about one hour of flight. This fuel is used if an emergency sitiation is arrised and needed to fly to another closeby airport.

Before landing
_________________________________________
Check to see whether your breaks are in good condition and functioning well.
I recommend you to use automatic breaking. (Set auto brakes to Maximum possible before touching down.)
Check to see whether your landing gear is in good condition.

When Landing
_________________________________________
Try to follow the approach lighting and instrument system as close as possible. If you think that you are not ready for the landing and missing the approach don't think twice to publish a missed approach and go around because these is very little chance for errors at Male.
After doing 2-3 tries to land, inform the tower and fly to a close by airport and try an emergency landing. (This is when you'll be needing that extra fuel.) Closeby airports which are having more resources are
1. Bandaranayaka International airport Colombo Sri Lanka - VCBI.
2. Tiruchirapalli International airport India – VOTR
3. Thiruvanthapuram International airport India – VOTV

After Landing
_________________________________________
If you landed ok then try to reduce your speed as quickly as possible because you don't have a very lengthy runway. If you feel that you won't be able to stop the aircraft on the runway, apply full power and take the bird in to the air.
If you'd been able to reduce the aircraft's speed to a manageble amount (below 30 Knots) hardships are not over. You have to go to the end of the runway. Then using the turning pads turn your aircraft 180 degrees (at this point Male tower will direct you to Male ground.) and speed your way to find the taxi way and exit the runway as quickly as possible. (You will find the meaning of this if there are other aircrafts in the que to take off or to land.)

Known Issues
---------------
Some AI pilots who are thinking that they are the best may
turn using the wrong side without using the turnpads when taking off.
turn at the middle of the runway without using the turnpads after landing.

From the Author
---------------------

Simulating the real world is an unening process. So this is only the start. I did this with very little resources (pictures, maps, technical data of the airport) so if you do have any resources please send them to me using the EMail address KAEChith@Yahoo.Com. That will help me to improve this scenery. (I am hoping to develop Bandaranayaka International Airport Colombo Sri Lanka as my next one. If you have any images, maps, technical data regarding the airport please send them to me.)

I have used some macros which are developed by other people, so I would like to thank them all for releasing wonderful macros and releasing them freely.

You can find my other creations by doing a search using my name.

Creating things are not that easy so if you like this scenery an would like to encourage me, please visit the web site

http://www.SurClaro/cgi/kds/main/vote-dev.htm

and vote for the scenery.

Hope you enjoy this.

Thanks,
Arjuna Chiththananda.
